Reports and Publications

  1. Promotion of Energy Research and Energy Activities at AUB: Irani-Fund (January 1, 2001– October 15, 2003)
    This report summarizes the initiatives taken using the ERG funding generously denoted by Dr. Ray Irani, member of the Board of Trustees at AUB and CEO of Occidental Petroleum on December 9, 2000. The funds have been used to initiate four research programs by the group members, and to support a local workshop titled “Meeting the Energy Challenge” on May 30, 2001 for policymakers and non-governmental organizations This seed funding has already resulted in several concrete achievements, including the establishment of a thermoelectric power generation lab, the completion of several Master’s theses, and publications by group members in international journals.

  2. Florida Solar Energy Center Training Program Report (July 28, 2003 - August 15, 2003)
    This report is meant to provide a summary and a reference of the FSEC training program for establishing testing facilities for solar PV and thermal systems, and a recording of main issues raised and answered during the training.

  3. GNESD Report on Renewable Energies Technologies Contribution and Barriers to Poverty Alleviation in Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon (February 1, 2004)
    In this report, analysis of the general energy consumptions among all sectors is presented. In addition, major developments in the energy and renewable energy sectors are described. The role of renewable energy technologies in alleviating poverty is also examined. The report is prepared to meet one of the main objectives of the theme on RETs for the provision of concrete policy guidance to identify opportunities and overcome barriers. Furthermore, it will provide a guide as to where and how to engage in the policy dialogue process.

  4. Regional Collaboration Workshop - Final Report
    This report describes the workshop objectives, programs, expert group meetings’ reports, attendance, and related activities and discussions that took place during the week of the workshop. The workshop outcomes are also described, with the formulated action plan and the workshop evaluation. The workshop programs and energy profiles’ papers are included in appendices I and II.

  5. Regional Collaboration Workshop Papers(April 2004)

  6. ERG Energy Access Paper (September 2004)
    This paper presents an overall energy profile and access in Jordan, Lebanon and Syria and is written in collaboration with Jordan University of Science and Technology and Damascus University. The work is sponsored by GNESD.
