RESEARCH INTERESTS
The area of expertise is the politics of public action and urban management, focusing on the urban politics and cultural geography of Shi’a groups in Lebanon. Recent research investigates the geographies of morality, examining leisure practices of pious youth and middle-class groups in Beirut’s southern suburbs. Additional research and professional interests explore post-war reconstruction policies, municipal governance and local development strategies.
