Founder: Mohamad Adnan Al-Alaoui
Received
the BS degree in mathematics from Eastern Michigan University in
1963, the BSEE degree from Wayne State University in 1965, the MSEE
and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Georgia Institute
of Technology in 1968 and 1974 respectively. At Georgia Tech. , he held teaching assistant positions at the School of Electrical Engineering and the School of Mathematics. After receiving the PhD degree he joined the Electrical Engineering Department at Royal Scientific Society in Amman , Jordan where he was responsible for the communications area. He served as an Assistant Professor in the EE Dept. at the American University of Beirut from 1977 to 1980. He was a visiting Assistant and Associate Professor at the EECS department of the University of Connecticut, Storrs, from 1980 to 1982 and in the summer of 1985. He served as an Associate Professor of electrical Engineering at the Hartford Graduate Center, Hartford, CT. From 1983 to 1985. He was the Chairman of the Automatic Control Department at the Higher Institute for Applied Science and Technology, Damascus, Syria from 1985 to 1988. In 1988 he rejoined the American University of Beirut where he is currently a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He served from September 2001 until September 2004, as the Chair of the ECE Department. He was awarded the First Research Award in Engineering for 1989-1990 by the American University of Beirut. His research interests are in Neural Networks and their applications and in Analogue and Digital Signal and Image Processing and their applications in Instrumentation, Communications and Controls. |
