MAY 2007
   

As part of the CITPER project activities, Professors Artail, .El-Hajj and Saghir visited the following three universities in Syria in May 2007: AEU (Arab European University), University of Kalamoon, and Aleppo University. The aim of the visit was to introduce the CITPER project, and to discuss the possibility of adopting the ICT program in their universities. A seminar was given at this level and all officials that the AUB team met showed enthusiasm in collaborating at all levels. The ECE team also discussed possibilities for academic collaboration between AUB and the Syrian universities.

   
As part of the student exchange program between AUB and TUM, Friedriech Kischkel from TUM has received a scholarship within the scope of the CITPER project to spend the Summer 2007 semester at AUB, taking courses and working on his thesis.
   

As part of the CITPER project activities, Professors Chehab, Dawy, and Kayssi visited the following three universities in Jordan in May 2007: JUST (Jordan University of Science and Technology), Jordan University, and Philadelphia University. The aim of the visits was to present the graduate programs at the ECE Department at AUB with emphasis on the ICT and PhD programs. Seminars were held at in the presence of administrators, faculty members, and students. The ECE team also discussed possibilities for academic collaboration between AUB and the Jordanian universities.

   
  MARCH 2007
   

As part of the CITPER project activities, Professors Artail, El-Hajj, and Kabalan visited the following five universities in Egypt in March 2007: Alexandria University, Arab Academy for Science, Technology, and Maritime Transport, AUC (American University of Cairo), Ain Shams, and Cairo University. The aim of the visit was to present the graduate programs at the ECE Department at AUB with emphasis on the ICT and PhD programs. The ECE team also discussed possibilities for academic collaboration between AUB and the Egyptian universities.

   
  JANUARY 2007
   

As part of the CITPER project activities, Professors Huijer, Kabalan, and Karaki visited the Technical University of Delft in the Netherlands in January 2007. The objectives of the visit were mainly to establish research and academic collaborations between the two institutions on several levels: students exchange, short invited courses, joint projects, as well as supporting the PhD program that will be launched at AUB in Fall 2007-2008.

   
As part of the student exchange program between AUB and TUM, Lina Al Kanj from AUB has received a scholarship within the scope of the CITPER project to spend the Fall 2006-2007 semester at TUM, taking courses and working on her thesis.
   
  JUNE - JULY 2006
   
The fourth CITPER General Meeting was held at TUM (Munich, Germany) from July 11-15, 2006
   
The first CITPER International Seminar was held at AUB from June 20-24, 2006 and at TUM from July 12-15, 2006. The theme of the seminar is Smart Homes and related technologies (wireless technologies; media technologies; security protocols; and sensor technologies). The seminar was attended by students and faculty members from AUB, TUM, and the University of Southampton
   
On behalf of the European Commission and as part of the standard monitoring arrangements for all running Tempus projects, a day-long Field Monitoring Visit took place at AUB campus on June 19, 2006 to assess the progress of the CITPER project. Before meeting with the CITPER group to discuss the achieved outcomes and planned activities, the monitoring team met with the Provost and the Dean of FEA to talk about institutional commitment and support to the project. The monitoring team expressed satisfaction of the support they heard from the administration and commended on the work done by the CITPER Group. In its final briefing, the team made few recommendations related to the visibility and publicity efforts to promote the new ICT program
   
  MARCH 2006
   
As part of the student exchange program with TUM, two ECE Masters students, Joseph Costantine and Ali Ghandour, have received scholarships to spend an exchange semester at TUM. Both students will spend the Spring 2006 semester at TUM taking courses and providing assistance on research projects
   
Mr. Goebel, in coordination with Professor Hanik from TUM, offered a block course on Optical Communications at AUB from March 27, 2006 till April 14, 2006
   
Miss Johanna Weindl attended DAAD seminar "Projekt management in TEMPUS" ("Project management in Tempus") on March 24, 2006 in Bonn, Germany

The second project report has been submitted to ETF in February 2006
   
Prof. Hagenauer and Dr. Becker attended DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) Seminar as invited speakers on February 17, 2006 in Bonn, Germany.
Seminar topic: "Wege zur Zusammenarbeit Hochschule-Unternehmen in EU-Drittlandprojekten" ("Approaches to university-industry cooperation in EU-partner countries projects")
